"A life full of tears, worry and despair, agony, bitterness and low esteem was my life before I came into contact with Child Aid africa which gave me a new life and a new beginning." These are the words from James Kinyanjui wambu, beneficiary of Child Aid Africa.
Child aid Africa is a christian non-profit organization dedicated to empowering hiv/aids orphaned children through educational support in order to reach their full individual development potential. It is their goal to tackle causes of poverty and disease, motivated by their faith in jesus christ. They foresee supported orphans holding the key to the healing of their own families and societies in africa. Some facts that inspire this mission: sub-saharan africa has more than 64% of the world's hiv/aids population. hiv/aids has led to around 1,000,000 orphans in kenya alone. orphans are more likely to suffer damage to their cognitive, emotional, and psychological development and to have less access to education. President of CAA, is Dr. Michael n. Mbito, personal friend of Central Baptist Church of Bearden and prior staff member.
Central Baptist Bearden came to the assistance of the caa in 2008 as kenya was in crisis due to the post election violence. Caa was a member of the national alliance of churches response and we gave to help with crisis/trauma counselor training, relocation, funeral expenses, and compiling data useful for offering effective services. We also have helped with a wide range of program needs including fees to support 20 orphans, office structure support, and travel expenses. Central has a partnership covenant with caa to support the mission by prayer for the child aid africa's programs, staff and program beneficiaries, designated giving, optional giving for special projects, and coordinated visits, which Michael was our featured speaker in 2009 at our vbs.
Join us in praying for students like James who are given hope with an education and pray God will continue to receive the glory as these students become leaders in their communities.
