South Africa Yonke indalo KaThixo mayimdumis uyehova. iindumiso 148:5 Above are the words of Psalm 148:5 in the Xhosa language. " Let them praise the name of the lord, for he commanded and they were created."
These words are painted, along with a mural of wild animals peering through a window, at the Nomaxabiso Daycare for disabled children. They were painted by A ten member team from Central baptist -bearden who traveled to cape town, south africa in the summer of 2008. They also lead a three day holiday bible club at the samora community church as well as a one day visit to linge primary school. They brought new toys and fresh vegetables for the barcelona baptist church orphanage for hiv/aids children, where they played with the children and just loved on them with crafts and singing. The best part of the trip was worship at the Samora community Baptist church with the xhosa people and their beautiful singing of hymns in their native tongue.
Central member, Paul pardue, is the older brother to amy boone who serves as an imb missionary in cape town. amy serves along side her husband, mike, and their two teenage children, tim and grace. They work through local schools, churches, a handicap school, preschools, an hiv/aids orphanage, and the cape town baptist seminary to spread the good news of jesus christ to the xhosa people living in squatter camps called townships. Xhosa is the second largest tribe in South africa with Nelson Mandela being the most well known member. The unemployment rate in cape town in over 50% among the xhosa. They live in townships consisting of tin roofs and scrap lumber walls. under the boones leadership, central has been involved for many years by helping with various projects such as construction of two churches: The samora Community church and the makasa baptist church. We have also helped provide for other construction needs, food for the handicap school children, tuition for seminary students, buying a revival tent and a sound system. The boones will be on their stateside assignment december 2010- december 2011. we look forward to having them come share with us during their time here in the states.
Join us in praying for the boones as they transition to america for their stateside assignment. pray that the work of spreading the gospel will continue in capetown in their absence.
