Thailand Missionaries: Rick and Ellen Burnette

1.The name of the people group, ministry or missionaries we are supporting.

Rick and Ellen Burnette are the missionaries.  They are providing a Christian response related to the rural development among increasingly marginalized hilltribe people in the Golden Triangle region of Southeast Asia.  They are specifically located in Thailand.

2.What kind of work is being done?

They are helping the hilltribe people with upland farming.  They are teaching them methods for farming and erosion prevention.  Additionally, they are helping them construct water tanks and etc to meet basic needs.  They are also helping them obtain citizenship to improve their living conditions in Thailand.

3.How has Central Baptist helped?

We have provided funding for support of the projects, transportation and provided prayer support.  Additionally, we have signed a 3-year covenant with them to support Haui Sao Village (White Sands Creek).  We will partner with this village to provide provide additional financial and prayer support and updates on Central Baptist Church.  We will also try to put together a missions trip to travel to Thailand next Spring and visit the village.  They will provide us an update on their village at a minimum of 6-months and possibly host us when we travel to Thailand.
